GRECO Project at the 9th PLA World Congress 2026

The GRECO Project was represented at the 9th PLA World Congress, held on 2-3 June 2026 in Munich.

During the event, Karen Contreras Lozano, R&D Technician in Mechanochemistry and Reactive Extrusion at AIMPLAS – Technological Institute of Plastics, delivered the presentation “Improving biodegradation and mechanical performance of PLA food packaging via copolymerization by reactive extrusion (REX)”.

The contribution highlighted GRECO’s ongoing research on renewable and biodegradable plastics, with a focus on improving the performance and sustainability of PLA-based food packaging solutions.

GRECO would like to thank the organizers and participants for the valuable discussions and knowledge exchange on the future of bioplastics, circular economy, and sustainable packaging innovation.

GRECO Research Presented at PPS-41 in Paestum

GRECO Research Presented at PPS-41 in Paestum

GRECO research was presented at The Polymer Processing Society 41st International Conference (PPS-41), held in Paestum, highlighting the project’s contribution to the development of sustainable polymer-based materials.

The presentation focused on GRECO’s work on biobased and biodegradable PLA-based polyesters for next-generation packaging solutions. The strong interest received confirms the growing relevance of sustainable materials and the need to accelerate the transition towards circular, low-impact value chains.

Congratulations to the team from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and to all GRECO partners involved in this collaborative effort.

GRECO will continue to foster synergies and advance innovation in sustainable polymers, biodegradable materials, and circular packaging solutions.

GRECO Consortium Meeting in Helsinki

GRECO GRECO Consortium Meeting in Helsinki

GRECO Project at ESAFORM 2026

GRECO Project at ESAFORM 2026

The GRECO Project was proudly showcased on the international stage at ESAFORM 2026, held in Thessaloniki, one of Europe’s leading conferences dedicated to material forming technologies.

During the event, Prof. Dimitrios Bikiaris delivered an oral presentation highlighting GRECO’s vision, objectives, and latest achievements, contributing to the dissemination of the project’s results among an international audience of researchers, academics, and industry professionals.

Bringing together around 400 experts in additive manufacturing, polymer processing, sustainability, and advanced numerical modelling, ESAFORM 2026 provided an outstanding platform for knowledge exchange, scientific collaboration, and innovation. The conference strongly reflected the interdisciplinary approach that lies at the heart of the GRECO Project.

We would like to thank Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the National Technical University of Athens for successfully organizing this prestigious event and fostering an environment that promotes scientific excellence and collaboration.

GRECO remains committed to advancing sustainable and innovative material technologies, and we look forward to sharing further developments and strengthening our engagement with the international research community
